UI Refresh

March 7, 2025 (Review of Week 10)

We’re doing the first big visible release of the year this week!

Personally, working on it has been a great experience – I’d forgotten a lot of what goes on when you’re coding and also just hadn’t really taken a good close look at the application in a while, so it was very educational both on the features front as well as front-end architecture and code organization. I’m pretty jazzed for this week!

Also super excited to have all-hands participation on testing for the first time in a while! Whoot!

Last Week’s Highlights

  • Willdan 2025 SOW is signed!!! (JB)
  • Release 90 is out! It wasn’t a particularly big one, but we did add a new measure for window heat pumps, which are getting a lot of press these days. (JB)
  • Lots of code cleanup happened – hopefully a net gain! (BJ)
  • Finalized 321Go! program deliverables for invoicing (MZ)
  • Lot’s of customer success learnings from Related that validate our roadmap – our product can’t do everythig they need today but much of what they need is on our roadmap (MZ)
  • Naina’s work to the AI building guesser scorecard is out: this will not only help us make go/no-go decisions for the AI building guesser, but it’s a great blueprint testing framework (covering variance, caching, scoring) for other LLM-based features. (FH)

Any missing highlights? Please share in Slack comments.

Crow’s Nest

Looking out for icebergs: What are the risks on the horizon that we’re watching for and navigating around?

Jason’s List

Carryover:

  • Still waiting on RFP news…starting to think the acronym actually stands for Regularly Friggin Postponed
  • Will Service Providers see value using Momentum? And can we make them happy (or at least not actively antagonistic) while trying to displace a lot of what they do today?
  • How can we continue to reduce the barriers to giving owners useful information? I’m eager to try scraping data out of pdfs and other documents so we can make it easier to get non-public information.
  • Figuring out a sustainable sprint planning routine that allows us to reliably ship on time and to know what will be in the release–and move faster. Would love to get to the point where we can let customers know roughly when a near-term feature will be ready.
  • Updating our project workflow. We have a better idea of who will be using this now, which is a great start.

Erika’s List

  • Looking at Salesforce and what it would mean for us to switch from hubspot. It had been in the background, but I think it’s something to prioritize - if we want to make the switch before our renewal in June, we would need time to review pricing, the agreement, migrating our information and getting folks trained up. We have about 3 months and it will go by quickly!
  • After going through all of our year-end reporting, we need to find a way to make the annual and quarterly requirements more manageable. It is very time consuming and information lives in different places. I’ve started to note the trends and see where we can streamline or keep information in one or two places. Q1 reporting is coming up soon and it needs to take less time.

Also from last week:

  • I’m exploring how we can make health care more affordable for us as the employer and for employees. Our plans should be able to scale in a cost-efficient manner without sacrificing coverage or benefits. This would also be tied to an exploration of another PEO (Professional Employer Organization, which is a third-party company that provides HR services to businesses).

Bomee’s List

  • UI Refresh release: There was a LOT of churn of the presentation-layer stuff and I hope it goes without a hitch!
  • Cash management: Looking forward to getting that big check from Willdan! It would be nice to see it on the balance sheet, finally.
  • Schedules: I know I sort of threw a wrench in the works of the nascent app team routine (Sorry!). Hopefully recovering won’t be too painful for folks.

Marc’s List

  • Macro economic impacts on our business and busineses in general from shit that is going down
  • We need more and better feedback from users and potential users
  • The Con Ed (2026) RFP is not going to be a copy and paste of the last 3 years – how do we best position ourselves?

François’ List

  • Schrödinger’s RFPs (but hopefully NYSERDA data is this week?)
  • Keeping momentum on AI why tackling large new challenges (development, R/W databases) - Same as last week
