Valentine Edition
February 14, 2025 (Review of Week
7)
Hi everyone! During our Valentine’s edition of Brownbag, Jeremy shared that he learned a better
browser tab management from watching Chuck, and
(while his main point was about the value of pairing)
it reminded me of an article I read recently about Zen, a new Firefox-based browser.
Now, I am a bit of a die-hard Arc browser fangirl,
but curiosity got the better of me and I tried it out this morning.
This guy at ZDNet
does a much better job of describing it than I will, but I will say this:
If you’re still using vanilla Chrome, try these alternatives with better workspace and tab management!

Last Week’s Highlights
- Both Bomee and Jason had 360s this week! I should be used to it by now, but each time I’m grateful that we have a culture of openness, feedback, and transparency that goes beyond wishful thinking, especially with the real impact and progress between 360s. (FH) +1 from JB
- While the NYSERDAta (Building Data Platform RFP) is still not signed, we are making progress on identifying talent to help us with the project. (FH)
- Great seeing progressing on Mini-UI. It’s going to be great when we can unveil it, and I think we should make a big deal about it on LinkedIn. Apparently, some folks are saying we’ve “gone silent” (BJ)
- We had a ping from folks working on London retrofits and LA BEPS. We’re not quite ready for them, but it’s nice to see we will have some calls to make when we are! (BJ)
- Personal highlight was getting my local install set up. It took longer than I had hoped, but it only took 3 tries! Hopefully documentation updates will make it even smoother next time. Thanks to everyone who helped me when I got stuck in the reeds! (BJ)
- I was able to join a few of the listening tour sessions with service providers. I’m really glad I can be a part of these conversations, which will us some great input to our near- and long-term plans. (JB)
Any missing highlights? Please share in Slack comments.
Crow’s Nest
Looking out for icebergs: What are the risks on the horizon that we’re watching for and navigating around?
François’ List
Same as last week:
- Schrödinger’s RFPs
- Keeping momentum on AI why tackling large new challenges
Bomee’s List
- NYC Accelerator, due March 7. We should be further along than we are, and it’s been a difficult, chaotic process. It would make a huge difference to win it; we’re the team to beat;
and I hope Willdan gets its shit together.
Carry over from last week:
- Eye on cash management
- ConEd rebid coming up - needs prep work from me and Marc
- Prod motion and velocity - I feel like we’re making progress there
Erika’s List
- I had deprioritized getting all the HR documentation on policies and practices into the handbook (it’s all written out and complete) but it needs to be visible and shared out.
- In a similar HR/people vein, we want to make sure we are set to scale and bring on any new people once we’re ready to hire. This means getting feedback on that documentation (e.g. worldwide work policy, onboarding process) and sharing what we’ve also been looking at (onboarding process and diversity, hiring and compliance in a shifting landscape). This is a current area of focus.
Jason’s List
Basically the same from last week:
same from last week:
- We need more and better feedback from users and potential users
- The Con Ed (2026) RFP is not going to be a copy and paste of the last 3 years – how do we best position ourselves?
