February 3, 2024 (Review of Week 5)

Revenue

  • New revenue this week: 0

  • 2024 New ARR: 0

  • 2024 New customers: 0

  • Current Subscription ARR: $370.7K (exclusive of Willdan)

  • Outstanding invoices as of today: $95,808.33 (Very overdue RY; February Willdan and Aeroseal)

Last Week’s Highlights

  • Kresge loan closing: Important not only because of the cash infusion (which is no small thing) but also because of who Kresge is in the community development field – one of the largest foundations and a national leader in impact investing.

  • BEEx 10-year anniversary event was filled with “our” folks - it was nice to see all these NYC energy folks, many of whom we’re working with already. BEEx itself is a potential national channel partner.

  • Fun demo for former deputy mayor Alicia Glenn’s development company MSquared - they seemed pretty excited and surprised how cheap the subscription is. They might be our first acquisition rehab customer, fingers crossed! The acquisition rehab use case (where a developer needs a preliminary scope and cost so they can bid on a property for sale) was something that developers brought up from the get-go, but we haven’t yet found anyone who saw enough value in what we have built so far to pay us. It’s possible that might change pretty dramatically with a national product.

My Watchlist

  • Revenue: OMG so close on Related. AVC will be $198k, which will put us across a magic line of $500k ARR that VCs like to see. Also in the back of my mind are the renewals that we’ll need to get on top of shortly.

  • Refocusing on feature releases: I think we took some good steps toward this pivot, and look forward to continuing with them next week, once folks are cleared out their individual to-do lists more.

  • Prod bugs: This has been simmering for a while, and if Jason Block’s bummed about bugs, so am I. I think we need to return to all-hands testing in some form. Maybe we can start with an in-person testing session to get us going?

  • Staffing: We now have all the resources on hand and need to start applying the money to speeding up our delivery. Looking forward to Tuesday’s meeting on resourcing.

  • Asynch communication: Really appreciated Robin Neri’s brownbag this week on biorhythms and productivity. Add to that the fact that we now span 9 timezones (except next week, w. exception of Maksym), it may be time for us to try to double-down on asynch-friendly practices and minimize meetings.

  • Bookkeeping: Continuing to have a very long tail on monthly close process. Items reviewed for correction for December close are still showing up now, which means we haven’t been able to close the books for 2023.

On Deck for This Week

  • Very exciting to see folks in person! See you at GCT on Monday - I expect to get there around 9ish with a box of coffee

  • Gearing up for unveiling HPD’s 321 Go! on Tuesday via social media. Thanks Henry Baum for working on the website.

And here’s what’s on my radar screen - what am I forgetting?
