Happy 2025!

January 3, 2025 (Review of Week 1)

Welcome back, everyone! I hope everyone is recharged and raring to go!

I’m excited about a number of things as we close out our very short first week of 2025:

  1. 360s have been going really well, from my POV! The feedback process we have seems to be getting folks the information they need for their work plans and the conversations I’ve sat in on have been very rich. Thank you for all the time spent on this – it’s really critical to our horizontal approach and I’m confident we’ll get great returns for our time invested. Coming up, François, Jeff and I have our 360s this month, and hopefully everyone is working on their 2025 Q1 or H1 work plan updates!
  2. Momentum UI revamp won’t happen all at once, but I’m hopeful we can figure out easy wins as we continue to work on the high-priority Q1 items (Generic Programs, developments, scope ingestion, etc.). The click-through prototype is now online, and I’ll make updates to it as I finish more screens.
  3. January RFPs Our two big RFPs from year end are due this month! Both are pretty exciting and I think we have a good shot at them. Thanks to everyone for their efforts so far, and if you get a ping from me or Marc as we wrap them up, thanks in advance for speedy support!

Last Week’s Highlights

  • Small thing, but we got paid by Urban American for two buildings. Yay, revenue! (bj)
  • Loved showing off the UI redesign work, and looking forward to detailed feedback so we can refine! (bj)
  • I’m really pysched for the new UI–I think it’ll make the app feel more unified and make user flow and actions clearer. Thanks Bomee! (JB)
  • I’m excited to welcome Izzy for her 1-month internship with us focusing on making better building data guesses using AI. (FH)

Any missing highlights? Please share in Slack comments.

Crow’s Nest

Looking out for icebergs: What are the risks on the horizon that we’re watching for and navigating around?

Bomee’s List

  • Hiring: We’re going to need additional help if/when we get the NYSERDA data work and the CPC GGRF and/or NYC Accelerator. It’s hard to know when to start moving on that, since the timing is still up in the air!
  • Roadmap: We have a lot on the roadmap – some of it pending on the RFPs and some of it not. We’ll have to prioritize carefully and double down on getting super consistent in our routines!
  • Revenue game plan: Though we’re heads down on the RFPs right now, I’m wondering a bit about how the rest of Q1 will look on the revenue side of the house….

François’ List

  • Juggling in the wind: we have left building edit detail page in an OK shape before the break, but this ball isn’t fully landed and the RFP prep work, possible NYSERDA contract, and Generic Programs are next on deck. I’m dreading getting back to a mode where we have too many half-finished projects
  • We’re due to get initial reports from our SOC 2 audit in the middle of the month. Let’s stay disciplined on security to make it easier to respond to possible exceptions found by our auditor.
  • With Izzy joining us this month, we at last have dedicated focus on using AI in Momentum. One month will go by quickly, and we’ll have to go far enough on setting up infrastructure and best practices that we can build on.

Jason’s List

  • Kicking off Generic Programs next week. It’s a big feature need for us, but I’m hoping it’s not going to feel too big in terms of complexity once we get spend some concerted time discussing and planning it. I hope this group planning will go well, since we don’t have someone dedicated to turning features into tickets.
  • Which RFPs will come our way?
  • Parsing unstructured data supplied by users–we need to cross this bridge.

On Deck for This Week

  • Expecting big group planning time for generic programs and phasing in the new UI and getting the CPC GGRF RFP in. (JB)
  • Kicking off December 2024 and FY 2024 book close and annual reporting season this week. (EP)
  • We will have a new bookkeeper, Stefan Stojanovski, start on Wednesday - he will support all the FinOps and some operational efforts. (EP)
  • Here’s what’s on the Company Radar

Lots of things coming but especially excited for getting AI involved, thanks to Izzy!
