Resiliency.
August 23, 2024 (Review of Week
EOY-19)
Both Bomee and Marc are on a well-deserved break, and this week and next, Jason and François are taking the mic on the weekly memo.
Following up on the theme of risk from last week, the SOC2 certification process we’re following might require us to run a
“tabletop exercise” (TTX, for the acronym lovers). A TTX is a role-playing discussion led by a security expert, to simulate
a business-impacting incident and see how the team would respond.
Well, no need for simulation here: we’re bombarded with real incidents and challenges lately, with a large GGRF opportunity
pulling us in new directions, Almanac yelling out timber on a short-notice, certificates not auto-renewing and bringing the
site down, a surge of RFPs to respond to before Generic Project can make it self-service…
I’m proud of how we’ve been able to respond to these challenges, and I’m grateful for the team’s resilience. It’s tough to balance
all these priorities!
Metrics
- Unique Buildings: 5,520 ←- as of 8/23
- Annual Run Rate: $1.3M ←- no change
- Monthly net burn: $139k ←- as of July close. But still looking into this number.
- 2024 Transaction fees to date: $6,257.34 ←- no change
- Outstanding invoices as of today: $20k ←- half of last week’s–those checks are rollin’ in!
Last Week’s Highlights
- Release 75 unlocked the full rollout of new space heating electrification measures (partial heat pump implementations), now available to all users.
- Martine was in the driver seat in this week’s Generic Project demo: the team got great UX feedback and validation ahead of shipping v0.1 in Release 76.
- The Related RFP is out, thanks to Martine and Kate. Bids are due back early this week, and we’re looking forward to seeing Jeremy’s spreadsheet parser in action!
- We are getting our back-end ready for national expansion, starting with Massachusetts and Georgia. Still tons of work ahead of us, but last week we progressed on many fronts: getting building and utility data, making our New York measures generic so they can be re-used nationally, and planning for a smooth user experience when we only have limited data about a building.
- Our unscripted horizontal meeting yielded great discussions about trust, and how we can bring our whole selves to work in a remote environment. Luke followed-up the next day on the idea of making some of our brownbags casual team games with an entertaining round of skribbl.io! 🎨
Did we miss any highlights? Please share in comments.
On Deck for This Week
- Release 76 should include Generic Project v0.1. Contractors will be able to upload bid forms, which we will process manually during this phase.
- The GGRF RFP is due next week! Jason and Jessica will meet with other the companies from our proposal team to keep moving the ball forward while Bomee and Marc are out.
- Dave is making great progress polishing the new Momentum dashboard. Keep your eyes out for this in an upcoming release! 👀
And here’s what’s on Bomee’s radar screen - what should she know about when she comes back?
