Consultant 1099s
In 2023, we transitioned contractor invoice payments from Justworks to Airbase to streamline our bookkeeping process. Since the move occurred mid-year, Justworks handled 1099s for some contractors, while 1099s for those paid solely through Airbase were managed by our external tax accountant, Graphite.
As we close 2024, we’ll continue to process all remaining 1099s through Airbase. However, starting next year, we will move to a new platform for vendor payments. Please note that Justworks remains in use for certain contractors, and 1099s for those individuals will still be processed through Justworks.
List of Vendors in Justworks vs Independent Vendors for 1099s
1099 Process: Vendors in Justworks vs Independent Vendors
For Vendors in Justworks:
-
We keep an updated list for Contractors Paid via Justworks:
- The List- which contractors were paid through Justworks during the year.
-
Justworks is Handling 1099 Filing:
- Justworks will automatically generate and file 1099s for these contractors.
-
Manual Entry for Airbase Payments:
- If any payments were made via another platform (like Airbase), the amounts need to be manually entered in Justworks before year-end.
For Independent Vendors (Not in Justworks):
-
Track Payments in Other Systems (e.g., Airbase):
- For contractors paid outside of Justworks, their payments are tracked in payment system like Airbase, then they are synced in our accounting platform QuickBooksOnline.
-
We are working with External Tax Accountant (Graphite):
- These contractors will have their 1099s handled by the external tax accountant 2-3 weeks before the official 1099s deadline which is Jan 31st.
