README for Kendall Adrian

Hi! My name is Kendall Adrian - the same pronunciation as the famous Kendall Jenner (lol) last name is pretty basic and is typically fairly easy to pronounce as it is spelled as it sounds. Honestly, if you mess up on pronouncing my name I don’t really mind or take it personally.

My pronouns are she/her.

At Cadence OneFive, my role is…

I am an Executive Assistant for Bomee and Ericka

Who am I?

Away from work

I am a mom to two littles - daughter (4) and son (2). My husband is on active duty in the US Army, and we have been a military family for 7 years now. I currently live in North Carolina and previously was stationed in San Diego, CA. I am an indoor cycling instructor at Cyclebar as a side gig/mental health saver/my “me” time. I am a total book nerd but not the “you’re so smart” book nerd because I read fiction and am a huge fan of romance fantasy books.

At work

When I lived in CA, I worked for the State of California at a prison called Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility where I started as an Office Technician for the health care side and did basic admin skills such as scheduling appointments for inmate patients, managing the primary care teams’ calendar, and documentation management. I was promoted to an analyst and then started doing analytical work for the healthcare side such as research analysis to support decision-making processes, preparing reports and presentations, collecting data, tracking information, monitoring tracking systems, presenting process management ideas to management, ensuring compliance with Armstrong and Clark policies/laws, and corresponded with plaintiffs concerning institution and inmate patient complaints. I had to take a step back from my career at RJD after having my son and moving to North Carolina and am now an employee with a company called Squared Away which employs military spouses and equips us with knowledge and work that allows us to work from home and make a career and income while still living and having a personal life in this crazy military life that we live.

Goals

Learning goals

I hope to learn about everything concerning admin/assistant work. I am always looking for ways to grow my portfolio so I can be a better assistant and help clients on a much wider scale than basic admin work.

Career goals

I want to grow as an executive assistant and find confidence in what I am doing. As a mom and a military wife, it is easy for me to put my life, goals, and dreams on the backburner so my goal is to have something that is only for me because, in the long run, I am a better mom and wife when I have a goal and career/life outside of momhood and wifehood.

You can lean on me to…

  • I always strive to give my best self and help where I can even if it is outside my scope or expertise because I love helping others.

  • Overcommunicate, be authentic - and admit to faults even if it is embarrassing because I am not perfect by any means and will be the first to admit that.

How to support me as we work together

  • I am new to the team, so I just ask for patience as I navigate everything. I am a visual learner so videos and instructions are my go-to but I will probably ask a lot of questions because the more I know the better it helps me.

  • I prefer to take my time than to rush through things because I feel more mistakes happen when things are rushed - slow and steady wins the race!

How to support me as a person

Please don’t hesitate to provide constructive criticism. I am learning and with that, I will need some form of criticism. I take pride in my work so I try my best to not take criticism personally but that is something I struggle with and continue to work on. There will be times when I need to be unavailable to take care of my kids or personal needs. I am a firm advocate of mental health as I have struggled with postpartum depression after having my daughter 4 years ago and am very adamant about mental health breaks throughout the day or when needed. This will not stop or prevent me from my job but sometimes life happens, and I may be slower to respond or may have times when I am unavailable, which case can be found on my Google calendar. I am a military spouse and with that comes a lot of solo parenting and taking on everything when my husband is gone (which honestly is a lot lol). Again, please be patient as I navigate everything and adjust to everything. Some days are good, and some days are struggle days which I will always be upfront about. I am slower to start in the mornings as I get my kids situated with breakfast and the day and I like to take a break around lunchtime for eating and my son’s naptime.

Slack is the best way to contact me and is my contact preference. I have email as well, but Slack is my go-to.
